SUPPLIERS’ KIDS ‘GO WITHOUT FOOD’

The Star (Kenya) - - Politics -

Kenya played host to the three-day 10th WTO Ministerial Conference held at the KICC from December 15-18 last year. However, the procurement process was marred by infighting and then KICC managing director Fred Simiyu was dramatically kicked out. On Tuesday, a caucus of WTO suppliers told a parliamentary committee efforts to get payment have proved futile. Caucus chairman John Ibae said, “There is no reason the country should celebrate and brag about a successful conference yet the children of suppliers are going without food.” The EACC has launched investigations into alleged irregular procurement.
