First Dairy Festival to be held in Bomas, participants to discuss sector growth
The first Dairy Festival will be held in Nairobi next week. The event, aimed at growing the Kenya’s dairy sector, will be at the Bomas of Kenya from November 25- 26. It is being organised by DairyPesa. “The festival will act as a meeting point for dairy enthusiasts, policy makers, government officials, media and other stakeholders to discuss and present solutions for the sector,” DairyPesa global business development coordinator Gert Louis said. He said there are many gaps between farmers, processors and markets, which hinder the nation from becoming a global player in the dairy sector. “Our goal is a better future for cows, people and businesses,” Louis said. Dairypesa CEO Kipleliet Ronoh said they will educate people on the benefits of milk. He said DairyPesa has recruited more than 126,000 small and medium dairy farmers. “We also plan to roll out a sacco by January next year to offer financial aid to farmers,” Ronoh said.
