Sand harvesting endangers rivers, roads and health
Excessive and illegal sand harvesting in e rural areas in pursuit of quick riches is exposing Kenyans to an environmental disaster. The youths are working against the government efforts to preserve water in rivers and to conserve the environment. Sand helps hold water in rivers and dams for a longer time. This water has various uses, including further protecting the environment. The overloaded lorries are also destroying roads in rural areas. Sand harvesting pollutes water. This is why every effort must be taken to protect our rivers from illegal sand harvesters.
