Group of Jubilee Party aspirants threaten to form parallel campaign team

A group of Jubiilee Party aspirants in Nairobi have threatened to form a parallel campaign team.

Led by woman representative hopeful Millicent Omanga, the group on Tuesday accused some elected leaders of sidelining them. Omanga said the group will join forces with “outsiders”.

“We wish to strongly condemn the statement purportedly issued by a section of Nairobi Jubilee leaders threatening to lock out other aspirants for Nairobi governor by ensuring they only support one of their own,” she said.

Omanga said the law allows eligible Kenyans to run for office anywhere in the country. “It is the Nairobi electorate that have the final say,” she said. Omanga said it is “embarrassing” to have a Nairobi campaign team predominantly made up of one ethnic group.
