Kuresoi South family in dispute with Kirobon cooperative over 200 acres
A family from Kuresoi South subcounty has appealed to the government to intervene in a land dispute.
The children of Wilson Rotich yesterday said Kirobon Farmers Cooperative grabbed and subdivided their father’s 200 acres without his consent.
They said the cooperative director took advantage of Wilson’s poor health to forcibly take over the land.
Daughter Brenda said the cooperative allocated land to her two brothers and left her out. “My father instructed that the land be subdivided equally among all the children, regardless of gender. I read mischief,” she said.
Cooperative secretary Richard Rotich said Wilson, a member of the association, directed that the land be divided equally between his two wives.
“We obtained consent to divide 100 acres among the children of the first wife. The second wife’s land remained intact as per the owner’s will,” Richard said.
