Minesh unveils R4 machine ahead of Guru Nanak Rally
BY SAMSON ATEKA/ After a two-year hiatus, Minesh Rathod has announced his comeback in a new generation Mitsubishi model.
The Nairobi-based mechanic has completed pre-event testing of his new Evolution 10 R4 car that he will be entering for the forthcoming KCB Guru Nanak Rally.
The 2015 R4 model was acquired from Austria’s BRR Motorsports owned Raimund Baumschlager, a former Safari driver. Baumschlager is best remembered loyally for clinching sixth overall position in the 1998 edition of WRC Safari Rally.
Minesh, who started his racing career in the 2003 edition of Guru Nanak Rally in a Colt Lancer, also confirmed that he will be reuniting with Rwanda-based Norris Ongalo.
‘I hope to learn the car more while also trying my new limits. The car is easy to handle as compared to a Group N. The plan is to tackle a full season in 2017,” said Minesh.
