Mi­nesh un­veils R4 ma­chine ahead of Guru Nanak Rally

BY SAM­SON ATEKA/ Af­ter a two-year hia­tus, Mi­nesh Rathod has an­nounced his come­back in a new gen­er­a­tion Mitsubishi model.

The Nairobi-based me­chanic has com­pleted pre-event test­ing of his new Evolution 10 R4 car that he will be en­ter­ing for the forth­com­ing KCB Guru Nanak Rally.

The 2015 R4 model was ac­quired from Aus­tria’s BRR Mo­tor­sports owned Raimund Baum­schlager, a for­mer Sa­fari driver. Baum­schlager is best re­mem­bered loy­ally for clinch­ing sixth over­all po­si­tion in the 1998 edi­tion of WRC Sa­fari Rally.

Mi­nesh, who started his rac­ing ca­reer in the 2003 edi­tion of Guru Nanak Rally in a Colt Lancer, also con­firmed that he will be re­unit­ing with Rwanda-based Nor­ris On­galo.

‘I hope to learn the car more while also try­ing my new lim­its. The car is easy to han­dle as com­pared to a Group N. The plan is to tackle a full sea­son in 2017,” said Mi­nesh.
