Kisii 10-storey killer building owner and engineer charged with manslaughter
The owner of the building that collapsed in Kisii last week killing eight people, and the engineer supervising construction, were yesterday charged with manslaughter.
Owner Jeremiah Matoke and Jeff Ocharo faced eight counts of manslaughter for the November 10 disaster.
Matoke, also faced a separate count of employing an unregistered structural engineer to supervise construction. Matoke, represented by Nyaberi Nyakundi, and Ocharo by Oguttu Mboya denied all the charges before chief magistrate Jesse Nyaga.
The duo was released on Sh2 million bond and surety of a similar amount. They were given the option of paying cash bail of Sh 500, 000 each.
The case will be mentioned on December 1.
