Rironi Pri­mary School hosted the third edi­tion of Limuru Half Marathon on Satur­day.

Ath­letes par­tic­i­pated in 21km, 10km and 5km races and were en­ter­tained by sec­u­lar and gospel artists, while chil­dren were face-painted.

The event, or­gan­ised by area MP John Ki­ragu and his of­fice, is meant to en­cour­age young peo­ple tap their tal­ents and urge parents and guardians to sup­port them. It was in­tro­duced in 2014 and is held ev­ery No­vem­ber.

In at­ten­dance were Ka­bete MP Fer­di­nard Waititu, Ndeiya MCA Nel­son Munga, area as­sis­tant county com­mis­sion­ers Jane Kain­gati and Jane Theuri and the event chair­man Ti­tus Kuria, who also works in Ki­ragu’s of­fice.

Peter Wam­bua won the 21km men’s race while George Waiyaki was sec­ond. Mean­while, Maryann Wan­gari was po­si­tion one in the 21km women’s race and Es­ther Waweru took the sec­ond po­si­tion.
