Nairobi Water ready for league play-offs

BY AGNES MAKHANDIA/ Nairobi Water men’s vol­ley­ball team have warned their op­po­nents to un­der­rate them at their own peril ahead of the next week­end’s Kenya Vol­ley­ball Fed­er­a­tion play-off at the Makande hall.

The John Mwaniki-coached side will be mak­ing their de­but in the event and are up against reg­u­lars and cham­pi­ons Gen­eral Ser­vice Unit (GSU), Kenya Prisons and host Kenya Ports Au­thor­ity.

Nairobi Water, who fin­ished sec­ond in the reg­u­lar sea­son with 32 points, wrapped up their three-week long train­ing ses­sions at the Sa­fari­com Arena, Kasarani yes­ter­day.

Nairobi Water de­part to­day for the event in Mom­basa. Coach Mwaniki be­lieves his team has what it takes to chal­lenge for the top hon­ours. “We had our work well cut out when the 2016 sea­son be­gun. We wanted to fight from above and make an early cut to the play-offs and I am glad our plan worked. Now we are fo­cused on the play-offs and we hope for the best,” said the tac­ti­cian.
