From AG’s Cham­bers to sea­far­ing law

1979: Af­ter her el­e­men­tary pri­mary and sec­ondary ed­u­ca­tion, Nancy joined the University of Nairobi in 1979 and grad­u­ated with a Bach­e­lor of Laws de­gree in 1983. She also has a Mas­ter’s de­gree in In­ter­na­tional Mar­itime Law from the IMO In­ter­na­tional Mar­itime Law In­sti­tute, Malta.

1987: Pub­lic Ser­vice Com­mis­sion, State Coun­sel in the At­tor­ney’s Gen­eral Cham­bers. She han­dled lit­i­ga­tion on be­half of the gov­ern­ment un­til 1990. 1990: Kenya Ports Au­thor­ity, Se­nior Le­gal Ad­viser un­til 1995, when she re­signed.

1995: Karigithu and Com­pany Ad­vo­cates, she was en­gaged in pri­vate le­gal prac­tice un­der­tak­ing lit­i­ga­tion, con­veyanc­ing, mar­itime le­gal con­sul­tan­cies, and gen­er­ally giv­ing le­gal ad­vice to lo­cal and in­ter­na­tional com­pa­nies un­til 2006.

2006: Kenya Mar­itime Au­thor­ity, Di­rec­tor Gen­eral un­til 2015.
