From AG’s Chambers to seafaring law
1979: After her elementary primary and secondary education, Nancy joined the University of Nairobi in 1979 and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1983. She also has a Master’s degree in International Maritime Law from the IMO International Maritime Law Institute, Malta.
1987: Public Service Commission, State Counsel in the Attorney’s General Chambers. She handled litigation on behalf of the government until 1990. 1990: Kenya Ports Authority, Senior Legal Adviser until 1995, when she resigned.
1995: Karigithu and Company Advocates, she was engaged in private legal practice undertaking litigation, conveyancing, maritime legal consultancies, and generally giving legal advice to local and international companies until 2006.
2006: Kenya Maritime Authority, Director General until 2015.
