Expand Rongai, Kiserian roads or face lawsuit, state, Nairobi, Kajiado warned

The Star (Kenya) - - Counties Nairobi -

Ongata Rongai and Kiserian residents have threatened legal action against Kajiado county, Nairobi county and the national government over poor roads and perennial traffic jams.

Residents’ Association chairman Fred Gori said they are neglected and their businesses undermined by the poor infrastructure and frequent grid traffic gridlock on the Rongai-Nairobi road.

“It’s unfair. We pay taxes and get almost nothing in return,” he said yesterday. “Living in Kiserian and Ongata Rongai has become a bad dream from which one simply can’t wake up.”

They said the frequent traffic nightmare wastes their time and leads to road accidents, as some motorists break traffic rules. Gori appealed to Transport CS James Macharia to intervene and ensure the single-lane Magadi road is expanded.
