Ki­ambu gov­ern­ment au­to­mates land ser­vices

The Ki­ambu gov­ern­ment has launched soft­ware to au­to­mate phys­i­cal plan­ning, ar­chi­tec­tural build­ing pro­pos­als and civil and struc­tural en­gi­neer­ing de­signs.

Gov­er­nor Wil­liam Kabogo launched the Elec­tronic De­vel­op­ment Ap­pli­ca­tion Sys­tem at the county head­quar­ters in Ki­ambu town on Satur­day. He said the county grap­ples with a huge back­log of de­vel­op­ment per­mit ap­pli­ca­tions. “With the new sys­tem, ma­jor de­vel­op­ment ap­provals will take a max­i­mum of 30 days and mi­nor ones 14 days,” Kabogo sai.

He said ap­pli­cants can mon­i­tor the sta­tus of their pro­pos­als through the on­line sys­tem. They will be no­ti­fied via SMS when­ever their pro­pos­als go through key re­view mile­stones. Lands ex­ec­u­tive Eu­nice Ku­munga said the sys­tem was launched for eas­ier ac­cess to ser­vices.
