Kakamega irregularly paid Sh7.5 million for consultancy services, says report

The Star (Kenya) - - Politics -

The Kakamega government paid Sh7.5 million in irregular procurement of consultancy services by the County Public Service Board.

The contract was not competitively sourced and instead the board negotiated with the consultant and agreed on the sum.

The county government also paid Sh17 million for stalled and incomplete projects.

It also had Sh13 million retention money released to contractors without completion certificates.

The county government also engaged a law firm for Sh1.7 million to take instructions in the defamation case against Senator Boni Khalwale and the county deputy speaker.

The Advocates Remuneration Act requires that the law firm should have charged Sh150,000 for the two cases.
