Health Committee to meet to decide fate of chairperson Nyamai, deputy Pukose

The National Assembly Health committee will meet today to decide the fate of the chairperson and vice chairman.

There have been claims the two are frustrating the probe into the alleged loss of Sh5 billion at the Health ministry. Chairperson Rachel Nyamai (Kitui South) and vice chairman Robert Pukose (Endebess) are also accused of bowing to outside pressure to “cover up” the scandal.

Other committee members presented a petition supported by 20 out of 29 members. Nyamae and Pukose survived the sacking last Thursday after failing to show up for the meeting.

Matungulu MP Stephen Mule yesterday said, “The 20 members who signed the petition still stand by their decision.” Differences emerged when the committee inspected the NYS mobile clinics in Miritini, Mombasa, last week.
