Nkaissery to meet MPs, Boinnet to discuss how to end police brutality
Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery will today meet MPs to respond to a petition on police brutality.
The petition before the National Assembly Committee on Administration and National Security was drafted by Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi on behalf of University of Nairobi students.
Inspector General Joseph Boinnett and Independent Policing Oversight Authority chairman Macharia Njeru will be present.
They will tell the committee what they have done to deal with rogue police officers accused of harassing students.
They will also give details of how many complaints have been received and what action has been taken against the said officers.
There have been allegations of police brutality, especially during demonstrations.
