Fazul stops report on false school papers, misconduct
The High Court yesterday suspended the implementation of a report by the Ombudsman involving falsification of academic documents by suspended NGO Coordination Board boss Fazul Mahamed.
Justice George Odunga directed the commission to file its response before the December 14 hearing.
The Ombudsman is investigating Mahamed on account of alleged forgery and falsification of academic documents, abuse of power and official misconduct.
Mahamed claimed, however, that on October 27, Justice Odunga suspended the Ombudsman’s decision to investigate him, publish the report or issue it to other authorities.
He says the Commission for Administrative Justice (Ombudsman’s Office) has disregarded the court order, completed and circulated the probe report.
Commission secretary Leonard Ngaluma urged the court to dismiss Mahamed’s application. He says the Ombudsman’s office adhered to the due process in investigations.
