EACC told to probe alleged loss of cash in Kakamega
Some Kakamega politicians have urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the alleged loss of billions of shillings from the county Treasury.
Senator Boni Khalwale, businesswoman Mable Muruli and MCA Cleophas Malala said corruption in the county is alarming.
Speaking to the Star on the phone, Khalwale said the EACC should partner with police to expedite their probe into the loss of computers and files from the county procurement office last week.
He said the theft was an inside job meant to hide vital information following the recent collapse of part of the Bukhungu Stadium, which is being renovated for Sh1 billion.
On Sunday in Mumias, Muruli said , “We have a case of Sh200 million that was meant to pay Mumias cane farmers, but ended up in the account of an individual. Where is this county headed to?” she asked.
Malala said the people of Kakamega were not benefiting from devolution “because they are sidelined” by the county leadership.
