Shame on landlords locking up tenants for arrears in rent
Police in Nakuru recued two girls who had been locked up in a house at the town’s Shabab Estate for a month over failure to clear rent arrears. The cops had to break the padlocks using hacksaws and gain entry into the house to release the girls aged 14 and 22. It is inhumane for landlords to take action into their hands against their tenants. Landlords should use proper and legal means to claim their money instead of using unorthodox tactics. If the tenants become stubborn, one of the moves they could take is report to the police for appropriate action to be taken.
