Two groups clash outside Kilifi governor’s office
Business in Kilifi town yesterday was interrupted for four hours when pro- and anti-Governor Amason Kingi protesters clashed outside his office.
The first group started demonstrations at Kibaoni, but on arriving outside the governor’s office, another group emerged and they clashed atthe gate.
The anti-Kingi group had carried a casket, which they said was “for the governor’s send-off”. Police dispersed the two groups. Later the group carrying a casket went to regroup at the Kilifi bus termini and blocked the road by burning tyres and the casket.
This follows several social media debates on the corruption allegations in Kilifi county and the national government.
Residents who support ODM have been pointing fingers at Jubilee adherents for condemning the alleged loss of money from the Kilifi government accounts.
