Two groups clash out­side Kil­ifi gover­nor’s of­fice

Busi­ness in Kil­ifi town yes­ter­day was in­ter­rupted for four hours when pro- and anti-Gover­nor Ama­son Kingi pro­test­ers clashed out­side his of­fice.

The first group started demon­stra­tions at Kibaoni, but on ar­riv­ing out­side the gover­nor’s of­fice, an­other group emerged and they clashed atthe gate.

The anti-Kingi group had car­ried a cas­ket, which they said was “for the gover­nor’s send-off”. Po­lice dis­persed the two groups. Later the group car­ry­ing a cas­ket went to re­group at the Kil­ifi bus ter­mini and blocked the road by burn­ing tyres and the cas­ket.

This fol­lows sev­eral so­cial me­dia de­bates on the cor­rup­tion al­le­ga­tions in Kil­ifi county and the na­tional gov­ern­ment.

Res­i­dents who sup­port ODM have been point­ing fin­gers at Ju­bilee ad­her­ents for con­demn­ing the al­leged loss of money from the Kil­ifi gov­ern­ment ac­counts.
