Makueni MCAs trash clinics’ Sh500 registration fee
Makueni MCAs have threatened to close all health facilities and eject county government officers from office if a Sh500 registration fee for affordable healthcare plan is not suspended.
On Thursday, the MCAs opposed the Sh500 registration fee introduced by the Health department, saying the policy was not approved by the assembly.
Majority leader Francis Mutuku said the assembly had approved a budget of Sh205 million for the Health department for free medical healthcare. He said the Sh500 “registration fee” was not brought to the assembly.
“We have told our people not to pay a single cent in our health facilities. Should they be denied medical services, then we will mobilise them to close all the health centres or we remove the health officers from office,” Mutuku told reporters in his office.
