Kenyans are yet to embrace Black Friday

The Star (Kenya) - - News Business -

CYNTHIA ILAKO/ Kenyans perceive Black Friday as just “a simple period of days” unlike in most Western countries where it is characterised by an influx of high discount sales in the major shopping malls, a new survey by GeoPoll suggested yesterday.

The survey, which sampled 103 men and 137 women, established that advertisements on Black Friday sales may largely not be reaching the intended audiences to take the opportunity to shop for their needs instead of normal wants.

Although 44 per cent attested to saving up for the Black Friday sale, only two per cent were willing to spend more than Sh100,000 with 77 per cent leaning towards a Sh10,000 to Sh20,000 price range.

The studyindicated that electronics will make the greatest sales during the period at 36 per cent attributed to 50 per cent men and 25 per cent women.
