Visa launches 4th edition annual card security week
Global payments firm Visa yesterday launched the fourth edition of its annual card security week campaign in Kenya. The drive focuses on raising awareness on the multiple layers of security in place to protect cardholders from fraud when making payments in store, online or through mobile. “Today’s complex global payment systems are immersed in vast amounts of data, which is being used to develop an additional layer of defense that detects fraudulent transactions before they take place,” Visa general manager East and Southern Africa Jabu Basopo said. He said sophistication of fraudsters has called for a global shift from magnetic stripe cards to chipbased EMV cards, to increase fraud protection in the coming years.
