Nanyuki hospital to get a training college
The Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital will receive Sh800 million machines from the national government, President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Monday.
He said the hospital will be elevated to a fully fledged teaching facility. Uhuru spoke while commissioning medical equipment at the facility.
He said the hospital will cater to patients from the neighbouring Meru, Isiolo, Samburu and Nyeri counties. “Patients who used to seek medical services from as far as Nairobi will be getting them here. We also want to ease travel costs,” Uhuru said.
The President, Deputy President William Ruto, CSs and other guests were stopped in the town to address a crowd that had gathered in the streets, blocking their convoy.
Uhuru, who was on a two-day tour of the Mt Kenya region, also launched construction of a renal unit at the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital and commissioned radiography equipment purchased by the state.
