Adak launch school chil­dren’s scheme

BY STAN­LEY MAGUT/ Anti-Dop­ing Agency of Kenya has rolled out sen­si­ti­sa­tion pro­gramme for school go­ing kids in a move aimed at en­light­en­ing the chil­dren on the ef­fects of drugs. Over 300 school kids were taken through the pro­gramme dur­ing Tuskys Wareng cross coun­try in El­doret over the week­end.

They were taught on the side ef­fects of us­ing drugs in sports and the rea­son they should al­ways up­hold the spirit of run­ning and win­ning clean. Speak­ing dur­ing the func­tion, Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer Adak Ki­plimo Rugut, said it was salient to tar­get young kids in or­der to tame the men­ace.

“Part of our pro­gramme is also to take this anti-dop­ing cam­paign to schools. We need our chil­dren to know it is bad to take drugs in or­der to en­hance per­for­mance,” Rugut said.

He said ear­lier en­light­en­ment will in­cul­cate the neg­a­tive at­ti­tude to­wards the use of steroids hence win­ning the war against drugs in the game.
