Peace Ambassador Tegla Lorupe has cautioned youths against spreading hate speech and propaganda on social media.

She yesterday said many youths and civil servants have been insulting leaders on Facebook instead of engaging in development.

“Some youths think posting on Facebook will help spur development in this region. This is a waste of time and once you are addicted, it’s difficult to stop,” Lorupe said.

She spoke in Kishaunet area, West Pokot county. Lorupe urged youths to use social media to do business and unite communities.

“I am perplexed that even senior people working in the government go as far as writing nonsense on Facebook,” she said. Lorupe urged parents to advice their children to shun hate.
