New and re­turn­ing MPs and se­na­tors were sworn in to the 12th Par­lia­ment on Thurs­day.

The leg­is­la­tors reg­is­tered and took a tour of Par­lia­ment, then the dis­abled were given pri­or­ity in swear­ing in.

Em­bakasi East MP Babu Owino caused a stir by adding Raila Odinga to his oath.

He was made to re­peat by the clerk, only to dra­mat­i­cally end with “Tibim” af­ter his sec­ond read­ing. Ken Lusaka was elected Se­nate speaker while his

coun­ter­part Justin Mu­turi re­tained his seat in the Na­tional As­sem­bly.
