Butcher kills his friend after a drinking spree, widow and daughter in custody
Shock and grief has gripped Dede village in Awendo after a butcher murdered his friend on Friday in a drunken stupor after celebrating the Supreme Court’s decision that ordered a new presidential election.
Paul Aroko killed Philip Okiero in the house of a widow he had inherited after a drinking spree of chang’aa.
Okiero’s wife Merezza Anyango told reporters, “He was following the ruling on the radio when Aroko called for celebration at 11pm,” Anyango told reporters.
After drinking the two headed to the widow Dorothy Okombo’s house. She found the deceased beaten on the veranda in the morning.
Okombo reported to the village elder Agnes Odhiambo. They found the body moved to a sugarcane plantation. Villagers burnt Aroko’s house. Okombo and her daughter, 15, are in custody.
