Butcher kills his friend af­ter a drink­ing spree, widow and daugh­ter in cus­tody

Shock and grief has gripped Dede vil­lage in Awendo af­ter a butcher mur­dered his friend on Fri­day in a drunken stu­por af­ter cel­e­brat­ing the Supreme Court’s de­ci­sion that or­dered a new pres­i­den­tial elec­tion.

Paul Aroko killed Philip Okiero in the house of a widow he had in­her­ited af­ter a drink­ing spree of chang’aa.

Okiero’s wife Merezza Anyango told re­porters, “He was fol­low­ing the rul­ing on the ra­dio when Aroko called for cel­e­bra­tion at 11pm,” Anyango told re­porters.

Af­ter drink­ing the two headed to the widow Dorothy Okombo’s house. She found the de­ceased beaten on the ve­randa in the morn­ing.

Okombo re­ported to the vil­lage elder Agnes Odhiambo. They found the body moved to a sug­ar­cane plan­ta­tion. Vil­lagers burnt Aroko’s house. Okombo and her daugh­ter, 15, are in cus­tody.
