SC Bank promoting Sigma Card for travelers
Standard Chartered Bank Korea’s Sigma Card is gaining popularity with travelers for its benefits during overseas trips.
The bank said Monday the credit card provides card holders a 90 percent discount for foreign exchange fees as well as exempting them from a 0.35 percent fee for overseas credit card use.
Also, the card comes along with a Priority Pass membership, providing access to 600 independent airport lounges worldwide.
Other credit cards also provide Priority Pass membership, but most of them allow lounge access for the credit card holders only. By contrast, Sigma Card holders can bring two companions into the Sky Hub Lounge at Incheon International Airport.
Since July 1, the bank has been providing additional benefits to Sig- ma Card holders.
They are provided with Gold membership at Shilla hotels and Shilla Duty Free outlets, Platinum membership and discount vouchers at Galleria Duty Free outlets, and a 5 to 7 percent discount at travel agency Modetour.
Along with benefits for overseas trips, the bank said Sigma Card offers various privileges. Depending on the amount of use, the card offers up to 200,000 won ($177.6) in discounts at hospitals and seven major hotels in Korea.
It also allows unlimited point savings. The card saves the holder 1.5 percent of the total amount spent on overseas purchases, online shopping and payments at hospitals and 1 percent of the amount used at other affiliated stores. Saved points can be used for paying off bills or loan interest, as well as being exchanged for department store vouchers.
