Snow clinches regatta title

NEWPORT BEACH, California, July 24, (AP): Nevin Snow of San Diego won his second Governor’s Cup title with a 2-0 victory Saturday against former two-time champion Sam Gilmour of Australia at the Balboa Yacht Club.

The 22-year-old Snow, a recent graduate of Georgetown, had beaten Christophe Killian of Balboa Yacht Club 2-0 to reach the final of the 50th edition of the oldest junior match racing championsh­ip.

“It’s awesome on many different levels,” said Snow, who also won 19 and 15 points apiece. But the second highest scorer in the game turned out to be Warriors’ Ocampo and Jax who poured in 21 points each more than half their side’s haul with the next highest scorer after them contributi­ng a meager 9 points to pace the Warriors’ loss.

On the other hand, Climbers beat Brown Diamond 80-71 whilst Elite Studio outpaced HEISCO 78-74 in the final game of the day.
