IT IS no longer hidden to anybody that Recep Tayyip Erdogan has turned what appears to be a botched coup d’état, which to him was successful, into a rack upon which he hangs the premeditated drastic cleanup campaign to enable him to control the government. This will serve as a prelude to implementing the constitution amendment which he desires in order to change the system of government laid down in 1923.
Who will believe that about 50,000 military officers, police, intelligence officers, teachers, judges, prosecutors, journalists and religious affairs employees; in addition to three million other employees and others who were banned from traveling took part in the six-hour coup attempt, while many others prepared ground for it and the State authorities did not take any action for several months?
The incidents indicate that the coup attempt was a cover for Erdogan-Brotherhood to start the real coup through the Justice and Development Party. This will be done by making drastic changes in the system of government through the amendment of the constitution, which will make the presidential system of government gradually drop the secularism identity.
This is an attempt to revive the caliphate more than one hundred years after its collapse. Instead of being in the form of the bearded Ottoman system, it will be a clean shave with necktie Erdogan style. But, is Almighty Allah not the only one who revives the decayed bone?

different from what Ayatollah Khomeini did in 1979 immediately after he took over governance from the late Shah, when he embarked on premeditated extensive purge of the Iranian Armed Forces and other institutions. The current scenario is similar to what happened 37 years ago in the North West neighboring State.
In Ankara today, the ‘Revolutionary Guard’ was born and the entire world has seen its nucleus in the gun touting men who went down the streets of Istanbul causing chaos at night. The actions included torture, killing and slaying – the same way DAESH does in neighboring Iraq and Syria, as well as what the Revolutionary Guard nucleus perpetrated in Iran over three-and-a-half decades ago.
In addition, the degradation to which the Turkish soldiers were exposed was meant to break the military influence such that the army will be undignified and incapable of performing the duties it has been doing for almost a century. Ridiculing the army in this manner is the result of serious hatred and revenge on how Najmuddin Erbakan and the Welfare Party (Refah Partisi) prevented him from burying the Ataturk system almost a decade and a half ago. He now comes out as a product of that party to take revenge and impose his ideology on the entire country.
What Erdogan is doing today is the culture of the Muslim Brotherhood Movement, which attempted to implement it in Egypt soon after taking over the mantle of power but the June 30 revolution prevented the movement from actualizing the plans. The political and constitutional nature of Turkey is a huge obstacle in front of the Justice and Development Party, whose speeches in the past few years focused on selling the idea of constitution amendment, or even replacing it completely.
The only thing Erdogan missed in his concerted efforts is that the dream of joining the European Union has eluded him and it reflects on the Turkish economy. Here he is entering the stagnancy crisis which will lead to more public protests in the nearest future.
The passion for revenge and power will play a vital role, such that he will not be satisfied with the clampdown on Fethullah Gulen movement. Other parties, including the allies, will definitely play a role in preventing total control of government. In spite of all these, Erdogan cannot revive the ancient caliphate, because what Sykes-Picot drew over 100 years ago remains bigger than the dreams of new caliphs.
For this, he cannot go beyond creating a new dictatorship to enter Turkey with consistent revenge, which will possibly put the country into the same pitfall where Syria and Iraq have fallen.
