‘Sports crucial for securitymen fitness’
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: Interior Ministry Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Fahd Al-Fahd on Monday received in his office Assistant Undersecretary for Land Borders Affairs and Board Chairman of Police Sports Association Major General Abdullah Yusuf Al-Mehana, acting Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs and Deputy Board Chairman of Police Sports Association Waleed Khaled Al-Sanee, and board members of the association.
Also present at the meeting was the private consultant of the deputy premier and interior minister — Lieutenant General Eng Sheikh Ahmed Al-Abdullah Al-Khalifa Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, Al-Fahd conveyed the message of Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to the newly-elected board members of the association.
He stressed the importance of sports, especially for a securityman as such will enable him to perform his tasks properly. He urged all those who attended the meeting to focus on training courses throughout the year while calling for inclusion of other GCC countries in sports competition.
Moreover, Al-Mehana and Al-Sanee expressed their gratitude to the interior minister and undersecretary for their support, indicating they will continue exerting efforts to develop sports standards in the police force.
Meanwhile, the association participated in the HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Shooting Competition for 2016/2017 organized by Kuwait Shooting Club at Sabah Al-Ahmed Shooting Complex.
The competition was held from Oct 20-22, 2016 with the participation of shooting champions from the National Guard, Military Sports Association and Police Sports Association.
Categories in the competition included trap, double trap, skeet shooting, gun shooting, rifle shooting, and the bow and arrow shooting for 10 meters and 50 meters.
Following are the winners among the military and civilian personnel in the Interior Ministry:
Sergeant Ahmed Al-Shatti won first place in bow and arrow shooting
Sara Al-Hawar got the first place in trap competition
Miriam Arzoqi took the second place in rifle competition — 10 meters
Munira Al-Anjari landed on third place in rifle competition — 10 meters.
