Twenty First Amendment band plays for PAWS cause

Concert & Dinner promises to be fun social evening

The PAWS Cause Concert & Dinner promises to be a fun social evening with live music, a delicious internatio­nal buffet, and great door prizes and raffle prizes, with all proceeds going towards medical treatment for PAWS Kuwait’s rescued animals. It’s taking place on Wednesday, Nov 2 from 6-9 pm in the cozy Mousetrap Theatre of the New English School, Jabriya.

Providing the evening’s entertainm­ent is a unique band called The Twenty First Amendment. Comprised of talented musicians Michael Lea, Brian Puls, Joe Bulman, and Dave McMurray, they play a mix of folk music, oldies, rock and roll, and country western, plus original songs.

“Most of us have been playing music since we were kids,” said Michael. He has been living in Kuwait for the last fourteen years and has been a local crowd-pleaser since he began performing with a friend named John eleven years ago.

Study in Canada exhibition:

Organized by the Embassy of Canada, the eleventh annual Edu-Canada Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Tour will be visiting Kuwait from Oct 26-27, 2016. Representa­tives of around 7 leading Canadian institutio­ns will be available to meet students, parents, teachers and guidance counsellor­s to present the advantages of studying in Canada. On Wednesday, Oct 26, 2016 at 6:00 pm a Study in Canada exhibition will be held at Millennium hotel, 4th ring road, Salmiya, for potential students and their parents to attend. For seen a fair share of the world and has always tried to find other musicians to play music with in all the different places he has lived. “Even back home in the States, growing up, family and friends would get together and sit and play guitar. That’s just what we do,” he remarks.

“Here in Kuwait, playing in a band is a constant transforma­tion because so many people come and go. I’ve played with lots of good musicians over the years and it has been a lot of fun. Apparently, the band can make other people forget that too. At their last performanc­e for PAWS Kuwait held with Canadians in Kuwait (CIK) at Al Hamra Tower, one of the ladies in the audience said, “This is what we all need, just to enjoy listening to some good music, have fun, and forget about all our troubles.” Voice Musicians Joe Bulman and Brian Puls are also teachers by profession while Dave McMurray is a school administra­tor. Joe is from the UK, Dave is Canadian, and Brian and for Shifa Al Jazeera- Al Nahil Youth India Pravasi Sports 2016 conducted with the tag line ‘Sports for Humanity’ has begun.

The event will be held in Kaifan Amateur Athletic Stadium on Oct 28th. The event will kick off with a colorful march past of the four Michael are from the US. Joe plays guitar and mandolin and also brings a classic rock sound to the band. Dave plays guitar and with his strong, deep voice is especially good at singing Elvis songs. Brian is the bass player who makes the link between harmony and rhythm and creates a solid overall sound. Michael plays guitar and harmonica and provides a good dose of humor.

PAWS Kuwait aims to provide a pleasant evening for their supporters while raising much-needed funds to pay for their sizeable veterinary bill. PAWS Kuwait is an allvolunte­er organisati­on that runs and finances a rescue center and shelter in Wafra and conducts an active community education program . They receive no help from the government or any official funding and are entirely dependent upon donations, fundraisin­g activities, and their own private savings and income to carry out their work.

competing teams. The teams are divided based on the geographic­al location of the participan­ts. The teams are Abbasiya, Farwaniya, Fahaheel and Salmiya. Sagar Justin (Abbasiya ), Lisab (Fahaheel), Muneer Thaha (Salmiya) and Riyas K (Farwaniya) have been elected as the captains of their respective teams. The age categories for participan­ts are Veterans (upto 1976), Youth (1977-1995), Super Senior Boys (1996-2000), Senior Boys (2001-2002), Junior Boys (2003-2004), Sub Junior Boys (2005-2006), Senior Kids-Boys (2007-2008), Senior Kids — Girls (2007-2008), Kids (20092010), Junior Kids (2011 and later). They will compete in 100 mtr, 200 mtr, 400 mtr, 800 mtr, 1,500 mtr races and long jump, high jump, shot put, javelin throw, discus throw, arm wrestling and tug of war. A participan­t can compete in a maximum of 3 events. And there will be one team from each zone for the group items. Transport is available from all parts of Kuwait.
