The government took steps to lessen the impact of inflation on the income of citizens from 2011 to 2016, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a parliamentary study.

The study revealed that the government took 11 steps to deal with the continuous price hikes over the last six years. It pointed out the price hikes are unjustified and have prompted citizens to take loans or render overtime work to cope with the rising cost of living.

The study called for a comprehensive strategy to address the issue, including short and longterm policies; explaining that short-term policies will deal with consequences of price hikes while the long-term policies will tackle major problems particularly the unbalanced economic structure.
