KUWAIT CITY, July 27: Anniversary Cup 2017 has finalized pairs to compete in the finals as the players finished the Elimination Round. They also organized another set of One Day Tourney Winners that took home valuable prizes.
Headed by Chairman Noel Candolesas and tournament directors Nato Calanog and Richard Amoto, the Filipino Badminton Club in Kuwait (FILBACK) officers and members are keen on achieving their goals to promote fun and healthy lifestyle, a place for recreation, and to learn sportsmanship and unity and friendship.
Level A
Ranking 1st in Level A Group B, Sameh El Assaad had 9 wins and 298 points, followed by Gino Gaytano with 7 wins and 289 points and in 3rd was Mohammed Rafiq with 7 wins and 281 points.
For Level A Group A, Gigi Imperialde ranked first with 6 wins and 258 points, followed by Muthu Kumar with 5 wins and 252 points and in 3rd was Erick Ventorina with 5 wins and 229 points.
In the Elimination Round, Sameh paired up with Noel and smashed Rafiq and Rommel C. 14-15, 15-8, 15-7, together with Gino they flattened Rommel T. and Noel 15-6, 15-12. Sameh and Rafiq paired and outclassed Rommel C. and Pranav 9-15, 15-11, 15-7 and when Sameh and Jozef teamed up, they slammed Gino and Pranav 15-11, 15-12. Gino paired up with Rommel C. and overcame Sameh and Rommel T. 12-15, 15-9, 15-13 and when Gino and Rommel T. paired up, they defeated Jozef and Noel 8-15, 15-7, 15-12.
On the other hand, Gigi paired with Marvin and tamed Muthu and Ainur 15-14, 8-15, 15-11 and slammed Ainur and Henry 15-13, 15-14. Muthu paired with Gigi and prevailed against Henry and Ainur 11-15, 15-12, 15-13 and together with Marvin they beat Henry and Gigi 14-15, 15-6, 15-4.
Level B
In Level B Higher Category, Chato Guillermo emerged on top with 7 wins and 267 points, followed by Kenneth Laxamana with 6 wins and 270 points and in 3rd was Addy Diaz with 6 wins and 268 points.
In the Lower Category, Gene Gonzales took the 1st place with 8 wins and 292 points, 2nd was Donz Murillo with 7 wins and 291 points followed by Sangeeth Sugathan with 6 wins and 289 points.
During the game, Chato paired with Ambar and outlasted Addy and Sid 15-12, 5-15, 15-13 and when paired with Addy they thumped Mohd Casa and Sid 15-7, 9-15, 15-12. Kenneth, on the other hand, teamed up with Joel and clobbered Chato and Aleks 15-5, 15-7. He and Addy thrashed Joel and Mustafa 15-13, 15-6, while with Mustafa as teammate, they hammered Aleks and Joel 15-7, 15-5.
Gene paired with Albert and outclassed Aries and Romeo L. 15-12, 15-10, together with Brent they overcame Randel and Faiz 15-12, 8-15, 15-10. Gene and Donz also paired up and smashed Aries and July 15-10, 15-6. When Donz and Aries paired up, they pummeled
Randel and July 15-10, 15-11.
Level C
In Level C Higher Category, Anne Reyes grabbed the first place with 8 wins and 288 points, Amor Llenas came in 2nd with 7 wins and 284 points, followed by Sarah Pilapil with 7 wins and 275 points.
In the Lower Category, Ricky Tanghal took the upper hand with 8 wins and 275 points, followed by Cecile Silvestre with 6 wins and 284 points, and ranking 3rd was Jhun Planco with 6 wins and 254 points.
During the elimination, Anne paired up with Chito and tamed Miller and Dhang 15-10, 10-15, 15-13, together with Hussain they slammed Reem and Dhang 15-14, 15-9. Anne and Miller paired up and overcame Dhang and Hussain 11-15, 15-14, 15-10. Amor and Joy paired up and defeated Reem and Anne 15-9, 1514. When Amor and Reem paired up, they won against Joy and Dhang 1512, 15-10.
On the other hand, Ricky paired up with Leonor and tamed Analou and Marvin 15-10, 15-9, together with Cecile they clobbered Jhun and Gemma 15-8, 15-4, and with Marvin as teammate, they pummeled Jhun and Analou 15-7, 15-8.
Meanwhile, Cecile and Gemma defeated Mj and Krista 15-14, 15-14 and with Krista as partner they hammered Mj and Gemma 15-11, 15-10.
