Acting Dean of College of Life Sciences Dr Meshari Al-Harbi disclosed that the launch of Masters in Science (Food and Environment Poisoning) course program was approved by the Kuwait University President on Aug 7.
He explained that the program aims at preparing graduates who are scientifically and technically qualified to deal with the emerging challenges in the field of food and environmental toxicology to ensure safer environment and food.
People with this specialization can work in the public or private industrial sector, research laboratories and academic institutions. They can also work in the Food Control Department of Kuwait Municipality, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, environmental protection authorities, Food and Nutrition Department of Ministry of Health and other bodies that deal with food production.
The course is a joint program by the departments of Food and Nutrition Science and Environmental Technology. It aims at combining food science, environmental technology and toxicological principles to provide technical skills as well as management knowledge to develop effective food and environmental testing policies, and ensure safe environment and safe food for all Kuwaitis.
