KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Around 9,000 Kuwaiti drug addicts have applied for treatment at the Addiction Treatment Center (ATC), reports Al-Anba daily quoting a knowledgeable source.

The source disclosed that these citizens underwent psychological and other treatments to fully recover from their addiction. He affirmed the center has the capacity to handle all those who applied for treatment, indicating the number of those willing to overcome drug addiction is expected to reach 30,000.

He pointed out that the increase in the income of citizens and the number of various communities residing in the country led to spread of drugs in Kuwait and other Gulf countries; hence, the rising rate of drug addiction.
