MP Mohammad Hayef has proposed the establishment of Department of Remote Guard Security Posts in islands, desert areas, travel routes and remote roads, reports Al-Anba daily.
In his proposal, MP Hayef explained that the past events have witnessed several incidents of people losing their way in the desert areas, especially in areas which fall under the administration of some security commands where the roads are completely unmonitored and lack security presence.
Previously there was a department which was in charge of monitoring safety and security in the remote areas through guard posts, which have become defunct.
He stressed the keenness of many countries in the world to have security units that are in charge of safety and security in unpopulated areas such as islands and open deserts irrespective of the names given to such agencies.
The proposal stipulates establishment of a department for security of remote areas that would cover desert areas, islands, travel routes and remote roads. They must be provided with officers and personnel, in addition to necessary mechanisms in accordance with proper security protocols which will address previous negatives and provide safety to those who frequent such locations.
