Kuwait’s hockey team beats China in Hong Kong tourney
Team to play crucial game against Japan
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 15, (KUNA): The Kuwaiti hockey men team beat Chinese Taipei Men’s National Ice Hockey Team 5-1 in Hong Kong international tournament which kicked off on Friday, scoring its second victory in the championship Group-B comprising eight teams.
Fehaid Al-Ajmi, the Head of Kuwait’s Winter Games Club, told KUNA by phone on Saturday that the earned victory placed the national team on top in the group.
The Kuwaiti team will play a crucial game against Japan.
Ali Al-Ostad, the manager of the team, said the good score came due to collective effort, indicating that training the team underwent in the Czeck Republic two weeks ago proved quite effective.
Earlier, the Kuwaiti national ice hockey men’s team defeated on Friday their Mongolian counterpart 5-0 in the opening match of Hong Kong International Tournament.
“What has been achieved today was the result of joint efforts by the management of the team and the athletes,” said the president of Kuwait Ice-Hockey National Team Fuhaid Al-Ajmi in a statement for KUNA.
“Kuwait dominated the game entirely because of their high stamina and their focus,” he added.
Al-Ajmi affirmed that the win would motivate the team to further progress in the tournament.
Kuwait Ice Hockey national team have camped in Czech Republic for two weeks, playing three friendly games prior to their participation.
