The ef­forts ex­erted by the As­sis­tant Un­der­sec­re­tary for Cor­rec­tional In­sti­tu­tion and Sen­tences En­force­ment Af­fairs at the Min­istry of In­te­rior Ma­jor-Gen­eral Far­raj Al-Zua’bi, in co­op­er­a­tion with the Gen­eral De­part­ment for Drugs Con­trol have re­sulted in dry­ing up the drug smug­gling ac­tiv­i­ties into the Cen­tral Pri­son, re­ports Al-Rai daily.

A se­cu­rity source said the open­ing of drug con­trol of­fice within the Cen­tral Pri­son is one of the fac­tors that con­trib­uted to the re­duc­tion of smug­gling drugs and/or other for­bid­den stuff into the fa­cil­ity to al­most half over the past three months.

An­other fac­tor is re­ward­ing and hon­or­ing those who ar­rest peo­ple at­tempt­ing to smug­gle and seiz­ing the con­tra­band, es­pe­cially dur­ing vis­its to in­mates.
