Dive Team launches cam­paign to clean up Kuwait’s beaches

KUWAIT: Kuwait Dive team has launched a vol­un­tary cam­paign to clean up the shores of the coun­try from wastes with the par­tic­i­pa­tion of ed­u­ca­tional and civil in­sti­tu­tions and sup­port from gov­ern­ment agen­cies.

This cam­paign aims to pro­tect the marine en­vi­ron­ment, in­crease en­vi­ron­men­tal aware­ness and en­cour­age vol­un­tary work, team leader Walid Al-Fadil said yes­ter­day. He ex­plained that the cam­paign also in­cludes a large truck car­ry­ing spe­cial graph­ics to en­cour­age chil­dren to clean the en­vi­ron­ment, adding that the truck would tour a num­ber of Kuwaiti coastal ar­eas, with the par­tic­i­pa­tion of school stu­dents, in or­der to in­crease en­vi­ron­men­tal aware­ness among cit­i­zens and demon­strate the im­por­tance of pre­serv­ing the en­vi­ron­ment.

He urged those who want to take part in the cam­paign to reg­is­ter their names on­line through the Dive Club’s web­site. He pointed out that the cam­paign also in­cludes a pro­gram to re­lease fish into the sea. The ini­tia­tive is pro­vided by the Kuwait In­sti­tute for Sci­en­tific Re­search in an at­trac­tive ed­u­ca­tional man­ner to lure stu­dents and make them love the en­vi­ron­ment.
