13th Asian Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship con­cludes with eyes on Rio 2016

KUWAIT: Fierce com­pe­ti­tion marked the fi­nal stages of the 13th Asian Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship un­til the very last day, yes­ter­day which ended with South Korea’s Dae Kyu Jang win­ning the gold medal of the 25m cen­ter fire pis­tol men, in­di­vid­ual event, fol­lowed by Thai­land’s Pong­pol Kulchairat­tana in sec­ond place and In­dia’s Vi­jay Ku­mar third.

While in the team’s com­pe­ti­tion Korea was first fol­lowed by In­dia and Viet­nam. The rest of the re­sults of com­pe­ti­tions of the 13th Asian Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship are as fol­lows:

In his clos­ing cer­e­mony speech Pres­i­dent of Arab and Kuwait Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion Eng. Duaij Kha­laf AlO­taibi said, I am pleased at the end of the thir­teen Asian Cham­pi­onship to ex­tend our thanks and ap­pre­ci­a­tion to His High­ness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlAh­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His High­ness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ah­mad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His High­ness the Prime Min­is­ter Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah and the gov­ern­ment for their sup­port of Kuwaiti shoot­ers, which con­trib­uted to the de­vel­op­ment of the sport of shoot­ing in Kuwait in all fields.

We are proud that the State of Kuwait hosted the 13th Asian Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship and keep con­tacts with broth­ers and friends and strengthen links and co­op­er­a­tion with Kuwait Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion, and give the op­por­tu­nity for shoot­ers to com­pete fairly, which keeps de­vel­op­ment of the tech­ni­cal level of the Asian Shoot­ing Sport.

He added, “I thank all Asian coun­tries who par­tic­i­pated in the 13th Asian Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship that was held be­tween 1-12/11/2015 de­spite the un­fair and il­le­gal de­ci­sions by the In­ter­na­tional Olympic Com­mit­tee and the In­ter­na­tional Shoot­ing Sport Fed­er­a­tion. Those broth­erly and friendly coun­tries are: Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, In­dia, Iran, Iraq, Ja­pan, Kaza­khstan, Le­banon, Malaysia, Mal­dives, Mon­go­lia, Nepal, Oman, Pak­istan, Philip­pines, Qatar, Saudi Ara­bia, Sin­ga­pore, Sri Lanka, Syria, S. Korea, Thai­land, UAE, Uzbek­istan, DPR Korea, China, Hong Kong, Kyr­gyzs­tan, Ta­jik­istan, Taipei, Viet­nam in ad­di­tion to Kuwait.”

Al-Otaibi also thanked the Asian Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion Gen­eral As­sem­bly for its de­ci­sions and sup­port of Kuwait Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion Stand in this cham­pi­onship to get its right and the right of Asia and its shoot­ers in dis­tribut­ing the quota places qual­i­fy­ing to Rio de Janeiro 2016, and we con­firm that we will con­tinue in tak­ing the IOC and ISSF to court to get those quota places and get com­pen­sa­tions for the dam­ages and losses Kuwait Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion in­curred. Al-Salem Al-Hu­moud Al-Sabah, the For­mer Pres­i­dent of the Asian Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion for his coura­geous and re­spon­si­ble stand by hand­ing over the pres­i­dency of the ASC stop Sheikh Ali bin Ab­dal­lah al Khal­ifa in or­der to main­tain the strength of Asia as well as Asian Shoot­ing and the right of Asian Shoot­ers in get­ting their quota places, and they have the right to take the IOC and ISSF for that pur­pose.

Al-Otaibi con­grat­u­lated His Ex­cel­lency Sheikh Ali Bin Ab­dal­lah Al Khal­ifa for be­com­ing pres­i­dent of ASC and wish him all suc­cess in his new mis­sion and con­firm the con­tin­ued sup­port of KSF to him and to ASC. Spe­cial thanks to the Pub­lic Author­ity for Sports and its Chair­man and Di­rec­tor Gen­eral His Ex­cel­lency Sheikh Ah­mad Al-Man­sour Al-Ah­mad Al-Sabah and his deputies for their sup­port of Kuwait Shoot­ing Fed­er­a­tion and pro­vid­ing all fa­cil­i­ties they pre­sented to en­sure the suc­cess of 13th Asian Shoot­ing Cham­pi­onship.
