In­for­mat­ics awards given to 10 gov’ts, Arab bod­ies

Ten gov­ern­ment and Arab in­sti­tu­tions have won the 2015 prizes of His High­ness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah In­for­mat­ics Award, as the best users of so­cial me­dia in the Arab World. Win­ners of the 15th version of the Award cover the gov­ern­ment, the pri­vate sec­tor, ed­u­ca­tion, health and civil so­ci­ety.

Kuwait has won three prizes, deputy head of the In­for­mat­ics Award or­ga­niz­ing com­mit­tee Bas­sam Al-Sham­mari told a press con­fer­ence yes­ter­day. The Na­tional Mo­bile Telecom­mu­ni­ca­tions Com­pany (Oore­doo) won third place in the pri­vate sec­tor cat­e­gory, while char­ity or­ga­ni­za­tion Direct Aid won the award of the civil so­ci­ety, and Taiba Hos­pi­tal was given the sec­ond prize in health, he added.

Sham­mari said that the Royal Hashemite Court (Jor­dan) won the first prize for gov­ern­ment bod­ies, fol­lowed by the Dubai Me­dia In­cor­po­rated (DMI), while the Dubai Cul­ture and Arts Author­ity came third in the cul­ture cat­e­gory.

Two Saudi com­pa­nies, Al­marai and Jairi won first and sec­ond places in the pri­vate sec­tor cat­e­gory re­spec­tively while Dal­lah Hos­pi­tal re­ceived the third prize in health. The ed­u­ca­tion prize was awarded to Qatar Foun­da­tion, Sham­mari said.
