Slo­gan of Kuwait as cap­i­tal for Is­lamic cul­ture 2016 cho­sen

As­sis­tant Sec­re­tary Gen­eral of Na­tional Coun­cil for Cul­ture, Arts, and Let­ters (NCCAL) for the cul­tural sec­tor Mo­ham­mad Al-Asousi said that the tech­ni­cal com­mit­tee of the cel­e­bra­tion of Kuwait as the cap­i­tal of Is­lamic cul­ture 2016 has cho­sen the slo­gan of the event.

The com­mit­tee can­celled the pre­vi­ous slo­gan that ran counter to the terms of the cel­e­bra­tion and so the slo­gan de­signed by Jassem Al-Nas­ral­lah was cho­sen for the event, Asousi said yes­ter­day. “A num­ber of coun­tries across the globe will take part in the event as a step to pro­mote and strengthen our re­la­tions with the world in the ar­eas of arts and cul­ture. Some of­fi­cial bod­ies in the coun­try, civil so­ci­ety or­ga­ni­za­tions and the pri­vate sec­tor will also par­tic­i­pate in it through pre­sent­ing dif­fer­ent cul­tural ac­tiv­i­ties,” he said. Kuwait’s cel­e­bra­tion as a cap­i­tal of Is­lamic cul­ture 2016 will co­in­cide with the launch of Qu­rain Cul­tural Fes­ti­val slated for Jan­uary 18.

The cel­e­bra­tion comes in im­ple­men­ta­tion of the res­o­lu­tion is­sued dur­ing the sixth con­fer­ence of min­is­ters of cul­ture of the Is­lamic coun­tries. The State of Kuwait will, through the event, seek to show the real im­age of Is­lam - the re­li­gion of tol­er­ance and peace - and the civ­i­lized im­age of Kuwait among the world’s coun­tries.

A supreme com­mit­tee was formed un­der the chair­man­ship of His High­ness the Premier Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah and some min­is­ters, and an­other com­mit­tee headed by Min­is­ter of In­for­ma­tion, Min­is­ter of State for Youth Af­fairs and Pres­i­dent of NCCAL Sheikh Sal­man Sabah Al-Salem Al-Hu­moud Al-Sabah was also formed to su­per­vise this cel­e­bra­tion and other events dur­ing the com­ing year as they be­lieve in the in­ter­est of such cul­tural ac­tiv­i­ties.
