Kuwait Times - - LOCAL -

A fire described as ‘minor’ broke out in the Crude Oil Unit in Shuaiba Refinery on Friday but it was rapidly extinguished without any casualties, Kuwait National Petroleum Company said. The fire broke out due to a malfunction in one of the unit’s pumps which caught the blaze, KNPC acting spokesman Ali Abdullah told KUNA. The fire was put out in record time and no one was hurt, he added. Abdullah said the affected pump would be sealed in the coming hours and the Crude Oil Unit would be re-operated as soon as possible.
