Kuwait Finder showcased in Abu Dhabi conference
ABU DHABI: The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) exhibited yesterday a technical project related to collecting large-sized, rapidly changing data in ‘Esri Middle East and North Africa User Conference’ hosted in Abu Dhabi. PACI Director General Musaad Al-Asousi said in remarks to KUNA that the steering committee offered a special invitation to PACI to brief the participants in the event about its experience in the ‘Kuwait Finder’ application, besides another informative projects based on it.
The organizers gave priority for the presentation for the Kuwaiti project, for it is one of the pioneer projects in the Middle East, especially technical wise, as a number of experts in the field and participants in the event have acknowledged, he said. The idea of the project developed following the launching of maps and location application ‘Kuwait Finder’ before four months, as PACI started collecting information and data about the traffic and congestion points, he added. Users of Kuwait Finder do not need to exit the program in order to view Kuwait’s map, as it is downloaded in the application, he said.
The importance of this project is reflected in connected data from the application to population data in order to facilitate resolving any problems related to population distribution, in cooperation and coordination with various governmental bodies and institutions, including the ministries of Interior, Education, besides Public Authority for Housing Welfare, he added.
The data base collected by PACI in the latest few months through this project is considered a great gain to all of the governmental bodies desiring to benefit from it in resolving problems of traffic jam, population density, and distribution of public buildings and facilities, mentioned. PACI is fully ready to cooperate with various governmental institutions and bodies by offering the results and findings of this project to offer sufficient information in establishing developmental or residential new projects, he said.
Then new version of Kuwait Finder which was launched before few weeks is considered as a quantum leap as it allows the users to navigate the application according to the quality of service they wish to receive, and not only depending on the name or address of commercial facilities, he affirmed. The ‘Esri Middle East and North Africa User Conference.’ which kicked off on November 16 and ends today, gathers a number of companies and international institutions specialized in technical geography and information systems. — KUNA
