FM re­ceives cre­den­tials of Malawi’s new en­voy

First Deputy Prime Min­is­ter and For­eign Min­is­ter Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Ha­mad Al-Sabah yes­ter­day re­ceived the cre­den­tials of Malawi’s new am­bas­sador to Kuwait Wil­fred Ali. Dur­ing the au­di­ence, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled wished Malawi’s new am­bas­sador best of luck, hop­ing that bi­lat­eral re­la­tions would be fur­ther pro­moted and de­vel­oped. Sev­eral se­nior of­fi­cials of the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs were present in the au­di­ence.

Mean­while, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled met the vis­it­ing African Union (AU) Com­mis­sioner for Peace and Se­cu­rity Is­mail Cher­gui and his ac­com­pa­ny­ing del­e­ga­tion. The meet­ing was at­tended by sev­eral se­nior of­fi­cials of the Min­istry of For­eign Af­fairs.

Also yes­ter­day, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled met with Di­rec­tor Gen­eral of Kuwait In­sti­tute for Sci­en­tific Re­search (KISR) Dr Ad­nan Shi­hab Al-Deen, where they dis­cussed “Ab­dul­rah­man Al-Su­mait Award.” Dr. Ab­dul­rah­man Al-Su­mait Award was an­nounced dur­ing the third African Arab Sum­mit that was hosted in Kuwait in 2013. The award aims at en­cour­ag­ing sci­en­tific re­search in the African con­ti­nent in the fields of health, ed­u­ca­tion and food safety.

The meet­ing tack­led prepa­ra­tions to host the first meet­ing of the Award’s Board of Trus­tees on De­cem­ber 7, which will be chaired by the For­eign Min­is­ter. The first meet­ing will see nom­i­na­tions of the Award’s Board of Trus­tees; many Arab and in­ter­na­tional fig­ures are ea­ger to fill those po­si­tions, the KISR’s chief said. —KUNA
