Bha­van or­ga­nizes Chroma 2015 cer­e­mony

In­dian Ed­u­ca­tional School (Bharatiya Vidya Bha­van) held the Prize Dis­tri­bu­tion Cer­e­mony of Chroma 2015 (the sixth edi­tion of the Ruth Me­mo­rial In­ter­school Art Com­pe­ti­tion) in the school hall last week. Ruth Prince Chacko, a prodi­gious painter par ex­cel­lence and a stu­dent of In­dian Ed­u­ca­tional School left for her heav­enly abode in the year 2009 leav­ing a trail of poignant mem­o­ries in the hearts of her friends, fam­ily and rel­a­tives. Dur­ing her lit­tle time on the earth, she amazed ev­ery­one with her finest flairs for draw­ing and paint­ing. Ruth Me­mo­rial Art Com­pe­ti­tion is held an­nu­ally in memoriam of this phe­nom­e­nal painter. The In­ter­school Art Com­pe­ti­tion was or­ga­nized on Satur­day, Novem­ber 7 in the IES au­di­to­rium. 98 gifted pain­ters rep­re­sent­ing 7 In­dian Schools in Kuwait par­took in the in­ter­school art com­pe­ti­tion or­ga­nized by the Depart­ment of Art, IES un­der the pa­tron­age of and Mrs. Prince Chacko, the par­ents of late Ruth Prince Chacko.

The con­test was held in 5 cat­e­gories. A max­i­mum of three con­tes­tants from a par­tic­i­pat­ing school was al­lowed to rep­re­sent each cat­e­gory. Awed artists Ma­hen­dran and John Mave­likkara ad­judged the com­pe­ti­tion. The first, the sec­ond, and the third place win­ners were pre­sented cash awards and me­men­tos by Prince Chacko, the spon­sor of Chroma 2015.

The cho­sen medium of paint­ing for the ju­nior 1(grades 1 and 2) was color pen­cils/crayons. The medium of paint­ing for cat­e­gories 2 (grades 3 and 4) and 3 (grades 5 and 6) was oil pas­tels/color pen­cils. ‘Wa­ter color’ was the medium cho­sen for the se­nior cat­e­gory (grades 7, 8 and 9). The sub-ju­nior (LKG and UKG) cat­e­gory con­tes­tants were given the priv­i­lege to pick the medium of their choice.

Prince Chacko, the fa­ther of late Ruth Chacko ad­dressed the au­di­ence. He thanked the school man­age­ment, the prin­ci­pal and the Art depart­ment, IES for con­duct­ing the Ruth Me­mo­rial Art com­pe­ti­tion ev­ery year ut­most de­vot­edly in his beloved daugh­ter’s mem­ory. Many eyes grew misty when Chacko said that even dur­ing the ag­o­niz­ing rem­i­nis­cence about his late daugh­ter, he found a few mo­ments of so­lace in the aes­thetic ex­pres­sions of the young con­tes­tants. He also thanked all the lit­tle pain­ters brimful of artis­tic flairs for hav­ing taken part in Chroma 2015.

T Premku­mar, the prin­ci­pal, Bharatiya Vidya Bha­van Kuwait also lauded the win­ners. He ap­pre­ci­ated the ef­forts of the Depart­ment of Arts, IES for or­ga­niz­ing the con­test in a truly pro­fes­sional man­ner. He thanked the spon­sors of the con­test and Mrs. Prince Chacko, the par­ents of late Ruth Chacko. He also thanked his coun­ter­parts for the en­cour­age­ment ex­tended to the sprout­ing pain­ters of the par­tic­i­pat­ing schools.
