Sui­cide stats show alarm­ing rise

KUWAIT: Sta­tis­tics of those who com­mit­ted sui­cide in Kuwait rang the dan­ger bells as 62 ex­pa­tri­ates and three cit­i­zens ended their lives dur­ing 11 months since the start of 2015. Data showed that maids are the most com­mit­ting sui­cide, while 13 women killed them­selves in the same pe­riod. Sta­tis­tics showed that 60 per­cent of those who com­mit­ted sui­cide are aged be­tween 19 to 35 years, while the means of sui­cide var­ied be­tween jump­ing from high places, tak­ing large amount of medicine, in­gest­ing poi­son, cut­ting wrists and oth­ers. A se­cu­rity source said the in­te­rior min­istry is work­ing on re­ha­bil­i­tat­ing po­lice­men to deal and ne­go­ti­ate with those who at­tempt sui­cide. — Al-Qabas
