Barcelona was voted team of the week in the As­so­ci­ated Press Global Foot­ball 10 yes­ter­day af­ter beat­ing Real Madrid 4-0 away at the San­ti­ago Bern­abeu in the Span­ish League.

Luis Suarez scored twice in the com­mand­ing win, while An­dres Ini­esta and Neymar added the oth­ers. “What was ex­pected to be a thrilling clash be­tween the bit­ter­est of ri­vals, be­came a game that show­cased Barcelona’s ab­so­lute supremacy over Real,” Umaid Wasim of Dawn News­pa­per in Pak­istan said. “Ut­terly dom­i­nant, the per­for­mance showed that their bid to win a tre­ble again this year would take some stop­ping.”Liver­pool is run­ner-up in the team vote af­ter a sur­prise 4-1 win away against Manch­ester City in the Premier League.

Le­ices­ter striker Jamie Vardy is fourth af­ter equal­ing Ruud van Nis­tel­rooy’s record of scor­ing in 10 con­sec­u­tive Premier League matches as his side beat New­cas­tle to go top of the English stand­ings.

“Jamie Vardy has shown Luis Suarez­type qual­i­ties dur­ing his amaz­ing run of scor­ing in 10 straight Premier League games,” Mike McGrath of The Sun in Eng­land said.
