MILSET launches 11th edi­tion of School Ro­bot Com­pe­ti­tion

The re­gional of­fice of the In­ter­na­tional Move­ment for Leisure Ac­tiv­i­ties in Science and Tech­nol­ogy (MILSET) an­nounced the start of Kuwait’s 11th School Ro­bot Com­pe­ti­tion. MILSET Di­rec­tor Ad­nan Al-Meer told the press yes­ter­day that the com­pe­ti­tion, or­ga­nized by Kuwait Ro­bot­ics Cen­ter, is to en­cour­age stu­dents to delve into the com­puter science that deals with the de­sign, con­struc­tion, op­er­a­tion, and ap­pli­ca­tion of ro­bots.

This year’s com­pe­ti­tion will also hold, on the side line, work­shops on ro­bot­ics for new teach­ers, he pointed out. The fi­nal re­sults of the com­pe­ti­tion will be an­nounced on the 12th and the 15th of Fe­bru­ary.

The 11the edi­tion of School Ro­bot Com­pe­ti­tion comes in con­junc­tion with the 5th an­niver­sary of Kuwait Ro­bot­ics Cen­ter that was es­tab­lished in 2002. Since its in­cep­tion, the cen­ter has re­al­ized many ac­com­plish­ments in the ro­bot­ics realm, most re­cently seiz­ing five medals in World Ro­bot Olympiad that was held in Ro­ma­nia in March, 2016. —KUNA
